FAQ about Squeezed Family VBX
I hear Squeezed is a new way to do VBS. What should I expect?
The sanctuary will be setup for a family-oriented program, appropriate for kids in first grade and above. The humor and games will also be enjoyable for teens and parents too! If you’ve joined us for past FX’s (FX Sunday, Jingle Jam, Friday FX), you know everyone enjoys it and grows in faith. We will have a program downstairs for children kindergarten and younger with various rotations (crafts, snacks, games, Bible story). We will also have nursery care available for babies and toddlers.
What is a Family VBX?
This year’s VBS is going to be what we are calling a Family VBX (Family Vacation Bible Experience). The idea comes from blending our traditional VBS approach with our FX (Family Experience) programs. This year’s VBX will have pieces from VBS such as drama and a decorative theme, while also including parents and other family members in the fun.
When is it?
Squeezed VBX will be on Sunday evenings July 10, 17, 24, and 31 from 6-7:30. On the 31st, we will have a BIG party with games and food from 6-8 PM.
Why a Family VBX instead of regular old VBS?
Our vision for a Family VBX is to offer a summer experience that has a longer duration over the month of July, rather than a one-week blast. We also believe in the power of families learning and growing together in God’s love and truth. Instead of just presenting the fun solely to kids, we hope that parents find this year’s VBX inspiring and energizing too. Parents have far greater influence than the church in leading their kids to grow spiritually. We believe the VBX model will equip parents to help their kids process the messages and themes presented.
Will my child be allowed to attend VBX without me?
While the intent for this year’s program is to include parents and family in all the fun, you can still drop your child off to experience the program without you. We will have guides available to help kids find a seat and enjoy the program without getting lost.
Can I still help with VBX?
Absolutely! You can sign up for a variety of volunteer opportunities such as decorating, acting in drama skits, helping with worship, being on the welcome team, preschool, snacks, and more! Sign up online or fill out a bulletin insert while attending UUMC on Sunday morning.
